Living in Denver
Denver sits at exactly a mile above sea level on the edge of the plains, with the Front Range filling the western horizon. Our residences are at Denver Place in the downtown core, a few blocks from the 16th Street Mall and within walking distance of most of the city's offices.
Downtown is compact and legible. LoDo — the lower downtown warehouse district — holds Union Station, Coors Field and most of the restaurants; RiNo north of it is the converted industrial strip with the murals and the breweries; and the Golden Triangle south carries the art museum and the capitol. The light rail runs from Union Station out to the airport in about thirty-seven minutes.
The mountains are the reason most people are here and they are genuinely close: I-70 reaches the first ski areas in about an hour and the Front Range trailheads in less. Red Rocks sits fifteen miles west and is worth a night regardless of who is playing.
The altitude is real for the first week — drink more water than feels necessary — and the climate is dry and sunny most of the year, including through a winter that gets less snow than its reputation suggests.
