The buildings we hold in Seattle
Living in Seattle
Seattle is a city built on a narrow strip between a lake and a sound, which is why it feels compressed and why the water is never more than a few blocks away. Our residences are at Griffis Waterfront on the south end of Lake Union — the stretch of the city that changed most in the last decade, and the one closest to where the work is.
South Lake Union is Amazon's campus and the biotech and global-health institutions around it: the Allen Institute, Fred Hutch, the Gates Foundation. The lake itself carries float planes, houseboats and the wooden boat centre, and the streetcar runs down to downtown and Pioneer Square in a few minutes.
Everything else is close by Seattle standards. Capitol Hill sits up the hill east with the bars and record shops, Pike Place and the waterfront are fifteen minutes on foot south, and the ferries to Bainbridge leave from Colman Dock. Sea-Tac is about half an hour by light rail from downtown.
The weather is greyer than it is wet — a long soft overcast from October to May, then a summer that is genuinely among the best in the country. For a stay of a month or more it is worth knowing which half you are arriving in.
